Numerous players have come and gone at Manchester United in recent years as the club underwent a turbulent rebuild under former manager Erik ten Hag.
From short-term fixes to marquee signings, United’s squad constantly evolved in search of balance, consistency, and identity.
One notable period of instability came during a left-back crisis, when recurring injury issues to Luke Shaw left the club scrambling for cover.

That search led United to Sergio Reguilon, who joined on loan from Tottenham Hotspur during the 2023/24 season.
The Spaniard was never seen as a long-term option, but more of a temporary solution to a pressing problem.
He made 12 appearances under Ten Hag without registering a goal or assist.
Reguilon departed Old Trafford after the season and joined Brentford on loan, where he registered four assists in 16 appearances.
A better showing, but still not enough to secure a long-term future in North London.
However, the Spaniard was linked with a shock return to United, back in summer 2024.
Tottenham to release Sergio Reguilon
Now, as per PA reporter George Sessions on X, Tottenham Hotspur will officially release Sergio Reguilon on June 30th.
He is set to leave the club alongside Fraser Forster and Alfie Whiteman.
A decision on Ben Davies is expected soon, with Spurs holding a 12-month option on his contract.
A final call is expected next week.
It is unlikely that Reguilon will come back to United, despite Shaw’s ongoing fitness issues.
The 28-year-old isn’t the exact type of profile who INEOS would be looking at.
Patrick Dorgu however, is an example of a type of signing the Red Devils will continue to make.
Young, hungry, talented players with room to improve.
