The Houston Texans’ wide receivers will look different this season.
Stefon Diggs left to sign with the New England Patriots, and Tank Dell is recovering from a serious leg injury.
As such, Nico Collins will remain their top target.
With that in mind, the Texans looked to add firepower by selecting Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel in the 2025 NFL Draft.
On top of that, they traded for veteran slot receiver Christian Kirk.
Though Kirk hasn’t been there long, it seems like Collins has been quite impressed with his body of work.
> “Slot magician man,” Collins [said](https://www.nfl.com/news/texans-wr-nico-collins-slot-magician-christian-kirk-impressing-in-houston). “Slot magic man, he is in the slot going crazy. That’s one guy you need. Just another playmaker. Another guy in the offense that’s going to make plays, and that’s one of them.”
Kirk struggled with injuries last season and had just 27 receptions for 379 yards and one touchdown in eight games for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
It was his second disappointing season after breaking out for 1,108 yards two years ago, and the Jaguars reportedly were set to release him before sending him to the Texans for a seventh-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Dell might not be able to suit up at all this season.
Collins will take care of business out wide, with Higgins most likely getting a chance opposite him.
That leaves the Kirk fighting for targets with Noel, John Metchie III, Xavier Hutchinson and fellow newcomers Braxton Berrios and Justin Watson.
Judging by Collins’ words, it seems like Kirk might be ahead in the battle for playing time.
