Liverpool‘planning to spend big’as one deal set to be announced soon

Liverpool are not waiting around this summer. The club are reportedly getting ready to spend serious money as they prepare to defend their Premier League crown. With one major deal nearly done and another in the works, fans can expect a busy window at Anfield.

According to reports via (Paul Joyce), Liverpool are close to confirming the signing of Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen and are ‘planning to spend big’ this summer.

The right-back has a release clause of around €35 million ($40 million), and the Reds have moved fast to bring him in.

But that’s not all. Talks are also underway for a club-record deal for Frimpong’s Leverkusen teammate, Florian Wirtz. That move could cost Liverpool over €150 million ($169 million), making it one of the most expensive transfers in club history.

If both go through, the Reds could cross the €200 million mark in spending — and the window has barely opened.

The rebuild doesn’t stop there. Liverpool are also eyeing Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez, who could cost around £45 million ($61 million). He’s seen as a long-term solution for the left side of defense and would add depth to a strong squad.

However, with players coming in, questions are being asked about who might leave. Luis Diaz is wanted by Al-Nassr, and Darwin Nunez has been linked again with Saudi club Al-Hilal.

Former Manchester United man Lee Sharpe has doubts about any big names being sold. “I find it difficult to say Liverpool need to offload someone when they’ve just cruised to the Premier League title,” Sharpe said.

He also suggested that keeping the forward line flexible has worked well for the Reds. “They’ve got Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez who seem to rotate the striker role between them. To not have a regular No. 9 might suit Arne Slot.”

Still, with a few forwards struggling to hit form, the board may be tempted to cash in — if the right offer comes.
