Timberwolves' Chris Finch Announces Roster Plans After Playoff Exit

The Minnesota Timberwolves had an underwhelming finish to their 2024-25 season.

After a dominant first two rounds in the NBA Playoffs, knocking out the Los Angeles Lakers and the Golden State Warriors, Minnesota took on the No. 1 seed Oklahoma City Thunder, and lost with a series score of 4-1.

It was the second year in a row that the Timberwolves were able to battle into the Western Conference Finals before getting put out just short of reaching the NBA Finals.

Minnesota will go back to the drawing boards and look forward to next season in pursuit of finding the franchise's first-ever NBA Finals appearance.

It was far from a disappointing season for the Timberwolves, who entered the postseason as a No. 6 seed and reached the Western Conference Finals.

But like every team that falls short, they will look to return with more experience and aim to get over the conference finals hump.

Head coach Chris Finch announces his aspirations for Timberwolves roster next season

With the NBA offseason becoming the next step for the Timberwolves, a lot of different things can take place before seeing Minnesota take the court for the 2025-26 season.

Head coach Chris Finch spoke on what he wants to see in the future for the Timberwolves.

"It's our intention to keep everyone here," Finch said on Thursday, according to Dane Moore on X.

Of course, much can happen in the offseason – from players changing teams to potential trades between franchises.

Some of the players that Minnesota will have to worry about this offseason include forward Julius Randle, center Naz Reid, and guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker.

Randle and Reid will have the player option of continuing with the contracts they have or declining to stay and test free agency, while Alexander-Walker is set to become a free agent this summer.

While many questions remain for the future, Chris Finch has been clear about what he wants to see moving forward.
