Arsenal now want to sell £45m star Ronaldinho once claimed would become ‘the best player in the world’

Andrea Berta has the understated task of trying to ship out several Arsenal players this summer.

Edu Gaspar struggled to sell players at Arsenal and the Gunners were often forced to let players leave well below market value.

Arsenal want to sell Fabio Vieira once he returns from FC Porto this summer for example, perhaps as a result of Ethan Nwaneri rising through the academy.

And after Vieira thrived on loan at FC Porto this season, the Gunners should be demanding a considerable fee from interested sides.

However, when it comes to Gabriel Jesus, Arsenal are going to have to wait another six months at least.

Ronaldinho was wrong about Gabriel Jesus and Arsenal are ready to sell him

Arsenal are ready to sell Jesus this summer as they look to upgrade their striker department — they’re on the hunt for someone to come in and help out Kai Havertz.

However, Jesus won’t be sold this summer owing to the knee injury that he suffered at the turn of the year, one which required surgery.

Rightfully so, Arsenal will stand by Jesus during his recovery, a player who’s always had such an exemplary attitude in north London.

That being said, the Brazilian hasn’t quite hit the consistent levels that some might have hoped since he made his £45m switch from Manchester City in 2022.

In fact, Jesus hasn’t quite reached the expectations that compatriot Ronaldinho had for his career as a whole.

Speaking in 2017 via Mirror Sport, Ronaldinho tipped Jesus to become the best player in the world, mentioning him amongst the likes of Neymar and Lionel Messi.

Ronaldinho said: “Manchester City have a very special player with Gabriel Jesus. Maybe even, in the future, the best player in the world.

“At the moment it is Messi. I have always said I think one day it will be Neymar. But at 19, in the future, it can be Gabriel. He has all the abilities to make that happen.”

Who should replace Gabriel Jesus at Arsenal?

Jesus is an extremely talented footballer, and he is actually regarded as one of the best pressing forwards in world football.

However, when it comes to the striker’s goalscoring, he’s not quite among the elite.

Therefore, Arsenal are keen to sign Viktor Gyokeres or someone of his prolific ilk.

Arsenal are also interested in Benjamin Sesko at RB Leipzig, even if he might still be inferior to Havertz in terms of his current levels.

But with Jesus sticking around for the foreseeable at least, Arsenal’s striker department should look very healthy towards the middle of next season, even if things might change in January.
