Over the past six months, Manchester United has had multiple big names out on loan, looking to earn themselves a permanent summer transfer.
This method of using the loan market has been successful for Manchester United in terms of previously unsellable players putting themselves in the running for a move.
Antony is the shining example of this, having gone from zero at Old Trafford to hero with Real Betis. Antony was key in Betis’ push for the Europa League and also to the Conference League final.
Elsewhere, Marcus Rashford has been on loan at Aston Villa, where he had a very hot and cold six months, which left the Premier League side unwilling to pay the £40m option to buy. However, Rashford is closing in on a move to Barcelona, which would be his dream move this summer.
However, the player United would have wanted to perform and earn a transfer, most likely would have been Jadon Sancho.

Chelsea begin contract talks with Jadon Sancho
Sancho joined Chelsea on loan with an obligation to buy for £25m this summer. When this went through, United would have assumed they had seen the back of the winger who caused plenty of issues for Erik ten Hag.
However, it emerged that Chelsea had a £5m opt-out clause, which the Blues looked ready to pay in order to avoid purchasing the expensive Englishman.
But now it has been reported by Sky Sports’ Kaveh Solhekol that Chelsea have opened talks with Sancho’s representatives over contract terms.

It is claimed that Chelsea are keen for Sancho to remain at the club if terms can be agreed on, and he can fit into the wage structure at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea will offer Sancho a lower base fee than the £350,000-a-week he currently earns at United, however, Enzo Maresca’s side tends to offer longer-term incentivised contracts to make up for that.
If the £25m deal goes through, United will pocket an £11m profit on Sancho, when considering the remaining book value of £14m as he is in the final year of his five-year contract after joining for £73m.
This signing would see Chelsea add to the Liam Delap signing they are close to completing.
Manchester United will have loved Sancho’s Conference League final performance
Chelsea signing Sancho would be a good deal for all, with the 25-year-old proving to be an effective player under Maresca.
This became very clear on Wednesday night during the Conference League final, in which Sancho scored a brilliant goal in the second half.
Sancho cut inside on his right foot before placing the ball into the far top corner, which secured the final triumph for Chelsea.
The United loanee had a really positive performance, and this might have even been the performance that pushed the deal over the line for Sancho.
