Manchester United are rethinking their moves in the transfer market as they come fresh off the back off losing out on signing Liam Delap.

The Ipswich Town striker has agreed to go to Chelsea over signing off an Old Trafford move, with United’s lack of European football being a defining factor.

Now, The Red Devils are looking to see who else they can bring in this summer to boost their attack.

Already Ruben Amorim has brought Matheus Cunha into his squad, with his £62.5 million release clause set to be paid across two and a half years.

However, United are also looking to Bryan Mbeumo of Brentford and slightly further afield to Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman.

The latter is at the heart of a major transfer race, spanning Europe after a highly successful season.

Manchester United enter fight for Ademola Lookman

Manchester United have had Lookman on their shortlist for some time now, however on the back of missing out on Delap, have circled back to the 27-year-old.

Caught Offside has reported that United are up against Arsenal, Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest, Juventus, Inter Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, Napoli, and Barcelona, as the list of interested parties continues to grow.

When looking at Lookman’s season, it’s no real surprise that so many sides are interested, given his 20 goals and seven assists in 40 games, playing as a striker, winger, and attacking midfielder, bringing versatility and reliability to the pitch.

However, United will need to meet Atalanta’s valuation of £50 million for the Nigerian attacker if they hope to sign him, costing them £20 million more than Delap would have.

Interestingly this is the same value as Mbeumo, meaning that United are likely to have to choose between one or the other due to their financial struggles.
