Pittsburgh BREAKING as Steelers In Trade Talks for Pro Bowl Tight End

The Pittsburgh Steelers' singular focus on roster-building isn't just about quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Additionally, word leaks on Thursday that they are in pursuit of a potential Rodgers weapon in Miami Dolphins tight end Jonnu Smith.

ESPN insider Adam Schefter notes that the Dolphins are hoping to get Smith to rework his current deal, but failing that, are are open to trading him.

In 2024, Smith put up 88 receptions for 884 yards and eight touchdowns, setting franchise records in all three of those categories for the Dolphins by a tight end.

What's so special about Smith? Frankly, it is his connection with Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith, who previously coached Jonnu on both the Tennessee Titans and the Atlanta Falcons prior to him joining the Steelers coaching staff under Mike Tomlin.

Meanwhile, Mason Rudolph sits atop the Steelers depth chart and the team awaits a decision from Rodgers.

And yes, Rudolph, is conceding that it amounts to a "constant noise.''

In a blunt take on the odd situation, Rudolph is saying that some level of high-profile discomfort is "the nature of the NFL'' and is therefore something he's grown accustomed to.

But ...

“That’s nothing new to me. There’s been constant noise,'' he said. “That is the nature of the NFL. So I am used to that for a long time. Now I’m doing nothing but being the best I can be to help our team get better this spring.”

Maybe the Steelers get it from free agent Rodgers.

And maybe, if this deal goes through, they get it from Jonnu.
