The agent of one “ambitious” Manchester United star has broken his silence on his client’s future following the club’s announcement on his departure.
Manchester United are planning for a busy summer transfer window as they look to improve Ruben Amorim’s squad at Old Trafford.
Last season was terrible for United and a stark reminder about the lack of quality available to the Portuguese boss, who also needs to make improvements of his own.
Bringing in players is going to be key and the Reds are already closing in on their first signing of the summer after reaching a contract agreement with Matheus Cunha.
But some would consider departures the most important thing for United in the coming months. Not only will player sales help make room for higher-quality signings, but there is also a much-needed clear-out of players simply not good enough.
Those player exits have already started after the club announced that Jonny Evans, Victor Lindelöf and Christian Eriksen would all be leaving Old Trafford when their contracts expire next month.
Eriksen’s agent breaks silence on future
Eriksen, 33, joined United in the summer of 2022 on a free transfer and immediately slotted into Erik ten Hag’s midfield alongside Casemiro.
He was excellent in that first season but after a crunching tackle from Andy Carroll left him injured for a number of months, Eriksen’s influence on the team never reached the same heights.
The Dane was still a competitive member in the team but it was obvious that he could no longer offer the physicality needed in the midfield area.
Now, amid reports of a potential return to Denmark, the player’s agent Martin Schoots has broken his silence on where Eriksen’s future may lie.
Speaking to BT this week, Schoots’ revealed that the experienced midfielder will not be returning to Denmark and instead the “ambitious” midfielder wants to remain in the top leagues.
“Christian is still ambitious and has a lot to give to a bigger league,” the agent told the Danish outlet.
“I can easily see him playing in his home country in the future, but I think for now it will only be for the national team.”
Eriksen backs United to have much better season next term
Eriksen did not play too often last season but was still a member of the squad which led United to their worst-ever Premier League finish.
Now that he is leaving, the player can be brutally honest about the situation and he has admitted that the Reds were fortunate to not be relegated.
“People are lucky that we are where we are, not relegated with the team, with the season we’ve had,” Eriksen told TNT Sports.
Despite that, the 33-year-old has predicted that United will have a much better season next term and believes that there has been progress under Amorim despite the poor results.
“Next season it has to be better and I’m sure it will be,” he continued.

“You’ve seen progress. The results haven’t really shown that – 100% the results haven’t shown that. The football we [play now] and coming from under Ten Hag is going to take time to adapt.
“The players individually are very good and they should never be where we are in the table. It’s up to them to turn around but I’m confident they’ll be a very different team next season.”
