Arsenal are said to be in 'advanced talks' with a star player over a new contract with his current deal set to expire in 2027.

Gabriel has just two years left to run on his current contract, but looks set to be offered fresh terms.

According to BBC Sport, an agreement between player and club now appears to be close following previous discussions.

The 27-year-old Brazilian has emerged as one of manager Mikel Arteta's most important players and was sorely missed by the Gunners towards the end of the season after he suffered a hamstring injury that resulted in surgery.

Despite that setback, he is expected to be fit in time for the start of next season.

That will come as a huge boost to Arteta, with the defensive pairing of Gabriel and William Saliba having become the bedrock of his Arsenal side.

The player in question has become one of Mikel Arteta's most consistent performers

The duo's performances have seen the north London side become one of the toughest to break down in in recent seasons, with Arsenal conceding the fewest goals in the Premier League for a second successive campaign in 2024-25.

Gabriel has also played a major role in Arsenal becoming a persistent threat from set-pieces, as he scored five goals in all competitions last season.
