The Dallas Cowboys got one of the steals in the NFL Draft by grabbing Jaydon Blue out of Texas in the fifth round. They actually tried to trade for Blue earlier in the draft, but luck went their way and Blue still ended up on America's Team.
Blue is thought very highly of due to his breakaway speed and ability to make defenders miss in the open field. The same cannot be said for the other running backs on the roster.
Former Cowboys scout Bryan Broaddus is not yet sold on the new-look tailbacks: Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders. Broaddus also put the complicated RB situation into reality by putting fullback Hunter Luepke in the same sentence as Blue.
"I absolutely feel good about Blue and I feel good about Hunter Luepke,"Broaddus said. "Everybody else, prove it to me. Prove me wrong. I have questions about that (running back) group."
For Broaddus to be concerned about Williams and a former Pro Bowler in Sanders, this shows that chaos might be brewing for the next three months.
Cowboys' RB depth chart could look a lot different than what fans are expecting
Blue has been praised by ESPN analysts as someone who can eventually start in the backfield this season. With Blue receiving mostly positivity and optimism from Cowboys fans, there's no doubt that he's the future of the backfield.
Luepke has been known as the typical third-down back, to mainly block for Dak Prescott on passing downs. He'll run a route every once in a while, but he's mostly known for his blocking. It speaks volumes that Broaddus believes his spot is safe, and it's the rest of the gang looking to prove themselves.

One name to not forget about is the Cowboys' seventh-round draft pick Phil Mafah. Even though Mafah is a hefty player that most NFL teams would love, he's still got four guys to compete with this offseason.
However, the coaching staff is clearly high on Mafah. It would not surprise if he carves out a role in year one as a short-yardage specialist.
Just putting in Luepke on the depth chart next to Blue is shocking enough, but Broaddus took it a step further to say that Williams and Sanders aren't ready yet. If that's true, Cowboys fans will be in for a wild three months before the regular season rolls around.
