Cooper Flagg Makes Big Career Move Before NBA Draft

Averaging 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists during his freshman season with the Duke Blue Devils, All-American forward Cooper Flagg helped his team reach the Final Four.

But Duke couldn't get it done, falling to the Houston Cougars, thus ending Flagg's one-year tenure in Durham, NC.

Flagg will now be taking his talents to the NBA, where he will likely go No. 1 overall in June's 2025 NBA Draft. Despite having just a 1.8% chance to secure the top selection, the Dallas Mavericks lucked out with an opportunity to team Flagg, Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving together.

With less than one month until the draft, Flagg has taken another step toward becoming a professional basketball player, signing with a Los Angeles-based sports agency called Creative Artists Agency (CAA) for his NBA representation.

"Welcome to the family, @Cooper_Flagg 🔥," CAA wrote on X.

Along with Flagg, CAA has announced eight other players to its 2025 draft class. This includes Auburn Tigers forward Johni Broome, Duke guard Tyrese Proctor, North Carolina guard Drake Powell and Michigan State's Jase Richardson.

Ahead of his freshman season with the Blue Devils, Flagg had signed on with CAA for his NIL representation. This move helped the Maine-native earn $4.8 million in NIL deals.

CAA also represents numerous NBA stars, including San Antonio Spurs guard Chris Paul, New York Knicks stars Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns, and Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker. It represents football, baseball and hockey players as well.

Flagg is not the only key player coach Jon Scheyer lost from his 2025 ACC championship team. Fellow freshman Kon Knueppel and Khaman Maluach are also projected lottery picks, while Proctor and Sion James departed as well.

Still, Duke should be right back in title contention once again in 2026 with another top recruiting class and some solid transfers.

The first round of the 2025 NBA draft will take place on Wednesday, June 25, at 8:00 p.m. ET. The second round will be the following night.
