The Golden State Warriors did not have the ending to their 2024-25 season that they had hoped for after they were eliminated in the second round of the playoffs by the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Of course, Golden State was without their star point guard Stephen Curry for much of the series after he suffered a hamstring injury in Game 1 that would eventually result in their elimination.
Now the Warriors enter a crucial offseason as they try to retool their roster around their aging trio of Curry, Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green.

The Warriors also have a key decision to make regarding their young forward Jonathan Kuminga as he will enter the summer as a restricted free agent.
Ahead of the offseason, the Warriors received a major update regarding Kuminga’s potential future in The Bay as insider Anthony Slater released a massive report on Thursday.
“Kuminga, league sources said, still has visions of becoming an All-Star, not fitting into an ever-moving mid-tier rotation role. He wants to be a featured player in an NBA offense and chase the 20-point-and-beyond dreams he’s spent his life chasing,” Slater said.
With Slater’s report, it appears that Kuminga’s time in Golden State may be quickly coming to an end as he still wants to be the focal point of a team, which he will not be with the Warriors.
Kuminga was a main part of the Warriors rotation for much of the season before he suffered an ankle injury that kept him out for an extended period and the addition of Butler at the trade deadline did not help him.

Eventually, head coach Steve Kerr took Kuminga out of the rotation which continued until the second round of the playoffs where he was reinserted in it after Curry’s injury.
Because of this, Kuminga’s spot in the rotation next season is now in question and it is likely that the Warriors will work with Kuminga on a potential sign-and-trade deal during free agency as his time in Golden State is likely nearing an end.
