PARIS, FRANCE - APRIL 01: The illuminated Eiffel Tower, the Sacre-Coeur Basilica and the Paris buildings are seen at night while Parisians remain confined to their homes during the coronavirus epidemic (COVID 19) on April 01, 2020 in Paris, France. The country is issuing fines for people caught violating its nationwide lockdown measures intended to stop the spread of COVID-19. The Eiffel Tower will be lit up in PSG colours every time they score in the Champions League final
Eiffel Tower chiefs will throw their support behind Paris Saint-Germain by lighting up the monument every time they score in the Champions League final. PSG face Inter Milan in Munich on Saturday night for the chance to win the European Cup.
Luis Enrique's side are bidding to win the competition for the first time, having finished as runners-up in 2020. The Ligue 1 champions beat Brest, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal in the knockouts to reach the final.
If they beat Inter on Saturday, they will also seal the treble, having romped to the French title and smashed Reims in the final of the Coupe de France last week. They have already been granted permission to hold a parade on the Champs-Elysee if they win the final.
And Paris' city hall is throwing their support behind the team in the build-up and during the game itself. Their plans revolve around the capital's iconic Eiffel Tower landmark.
The Tower is lit up in gold every night after sunset and sparkles the first five minutes of every hour, while a beacon shines across Paris. On occasion it has been lit up in other colours, such as the French flag and the colours of the Olympic Games.

Paris mayor Anne Hidalgo has now announced that she has granted permission for the Tower to be lit up in the blue and red of PSG during Saturday's final. It will also be illuminated every time PSG score a goal.
A message of encouragement will also be displayed on the Eiffel Tower starting Friday evening. Elsewhere in Paris, billboards on the ring road near the Parc des Princes will display messages of support, with the mayor delighted to be able to back the team.
"On Saturday, everyone is behind PSG," said Hidalgo. "After the French league and Coupe de France titles, all of Paris is behind the players to win the Champions League!
"To support them, I've decided to light up the Eiffel Tower in the colors of Paris and the club starting Saturday evening. It will sparkle with every Parisian goal. Paris has a date with football history.
"You make us dream! We're counting on you to make Paris shine! For Parisian fans, all they can do is hope that this final against Inter doesn't resemble the one five years ago against Bayern, where PSG didn't score a single goal."
PSG fans have already adopted the Eiffel Tower as their base for this weekend's huge game. On Wednesday night, a group of ultras unfurled a banner and launched a fireworks display at the Place du Trocadéro which looks up to the Tower.
The banner read "Born to shine, Paris will light up", with the group timing their gathering when the Tower was sparkling. There was also a huge firework display with dozens of smoke bombs set off.
