Despite planning a clear-out this summer, Manchester United will be desperate not to sell Bruno Fernandes.
Ruben Amorim is preparing to have an unrecognisable squad by the time August arrives, as Ineos plan to rebuild the team that caused a worst-ever Premier League finish.
Manchester United’s summer clear-out could see several big names sold, including Alejandro Garnacho, who has been told to leave by Amorim.
This overhaul would also see several new players welcomed, with nothing less going to appease fans following the 15th-place finish in the league.
Every United player bar four is for sale, but interest is persistent for one of Amorim’s irreplaceable stars, Bruno Fernandes.

Bruno Fernandes’ agent agrees on contract terms with Al-Hilal
Fernandes is a target for Al-Hilal, who have persisted with interest despite deadlines not being met.
The United dressing room is “desperate” for Fernandes to stay put, which is no shock considering he was the reason there was no relegation battle during the 2024-25 season.
However, despite a deal once looking unlikely, it has now been claimed that a step forward has been taken.

According to a reliable Saudi journalist, Abdullah Al-Hanyan, a meeting between Al-Hilal representatives and Fernandes’ agent recently resulted in an agreement.
The Saudi Pro League side met the initial conditions laid out by Fernandes’ agent, Miguel Pinho, and now he will bring the offer to Fernandes for the final decision.
The Daily Mail has claimed that the meeting went on late into the night, and that Al-Hilal are prepared to pay Fernandes £200m over three years.
Chris Wheeler from the Mail added to this with a tweet revealing that the Saudi club is stressing that it is a one-time opportunity as they want Fernandes signed for the Club World Cup.
Amorim will be livid with Fernandes and his agent for discussing a deal, when the head coach has been so adamant over his captain’s future.
Manchester United’s stance already made clear by Ruben Amorim
Fernandes’ move to Saudi Arabia does appear to be edging closer, however, even if he accepts Al-Hilal’s contract offer, it will mean nothing if United don’t agree.
Amorim has said Fernandes cannot be sold, citing his importance to the team as the reason, which is indisputable, with the pair having a good relationship. Amorim will not be pleased if Fernandes leaves.
As much as the £100m would be useful, United have no intention of selling Fernandes, as he is deemed to be more than just a player; in fact, he is the club right now, and without him, things would be even worse.
However, there is a concern that after losing the Europa League final, United might have to consider the sale.
