Report: Nottingham Forest now in advanced talks for 'incredible' striker, he nearly joined…

Nottingham Forest are going to go in search of forwards this summer and it would appear that the striker will be the immediate priority.

Evangelos Marinakis was desperate to land a striker in January but stayed tight with the kitty ahead of a pursuit on more signings this summer.

Chris Wood scored 20 goals in 2024/25, but behind him, providing the competition, Taiwo Awoniyi only managed a single Premier League goal.

Liam Delap has rejected Forest to sign for Chelsea, but it would appear as though the Reds aren’t keen to dwell on that and have moved on very quickly indeed.

Nottingham Forest in advanced talks to sign Igor Jesus

According to Fogao Net, the talks between Botafogo and Forest are at an advanced stage with a deal worth £20 million being discussed.

It’s apparent that the negotiations between the clubs are going fine, and the final say is now going to be down to Jesus himself.

This isn’t the first time that Forest have been in the mix to sign the striker. Jesus turned down Arsenal and the Reds in January, choosing to stick with the champions instead.

Now, a move could be on the cards, however, with these reports likely to get the fans revved up that a deal to sign a new striker could take place very soon indeed.

Jesus has scored seven goals this season, and given his price tag, it’s a deal that makes a lot of sense from a business perspective ahead of a campaign in Europe during 2025/26.

What has been said about Igor Jesus

South American football expert Zach Lowy previously called the player ‘incredible’ for his form with Botafogo, and he’s won a league title with the club.

His goalscoring record isn’t actually anything to write home about, with the player scoring just 15 goals from 54 appearances.

However, at 24-years-old, he looks like a player who is at a nice age to be swapping South America for a European adventure, and Forest would be getting a player with vast potential.

Jesus would represent a superb start to the transfer window and ticking off a striker early doors would get the juices flowing ahead of the new season getting underway in a few months.
