Nottingham Forest are back in the mix to sign Igor Jesus despite him rejecting their offer in the winter market.
A week ago, we covered claims from Brazil which stated Nottingham Forest have to tussle with Arsenal and Fulham for the striker.
Nuno Espírito Santo’s side have now made advances in their efforts to sign Jesus in the summer window.
That’s according to journalist Venê Casagrande, who took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to provide the latest.
He reports the Brazilian club have ‘made progress in negotiations’ to sell the 24-year-old to Nottingham Forest for €20m. They want to let him leave only after the Club World Cup that will start on June 14th.
Casagrande claims Nottingham Forest will have to pay a large portion of the fee up front and the rest later this year. He adds Jesus’ representatives have confirmed the progress in negotiations made by the two clubs, without sharing any quotes.
The agents are said to have insisted Jesus is analysing what’s best for his career.
Globo Esporte state Botafogo have received the Premier League club’s €20m plus bonuses offer for the Brazil international to join them after the Club World Cup.
Despite Casagrande stating the player is still thinking about whether it’s best to join the Reds, Globo say Jesus’ camp are pleased with Nottingham Forest’s proposal and ‘want to close the deal’.
The proposal pleases the South American club, but they haven’t closed an agreement with Nottingham Forest. That’s because they want to wait until the end of the Club World Cup, to see if they’ll receive a better offer from elsewhere.
