Brighton & Hove Albion and Aston Villa have Hellas Verona’s Diego Coppola on their target list for the summer window.
That’s according to journalist Alfredo Pedullà, and he mentions Aston Villa when covering the Seagulls’ efforts to try and sign the defender.
Earlier this month, we covered claims from Italy which stated Lazio and Brighton have set their sights on the 21-year-old.
The centre-back has been linked to several clubs, including from Serie A. Pedullà now states the Premier League, where Brighton and Aston Villa are in the picture, could be his next destination.
He indicates it could probably be at The Amex because Fabian Hürzeler’s side have ‘taken important steps’ to sign the Italy U21 international. The journalist immediately mentions ‘a strong move with a valuation of around €10m plus bonuses’.
This indicates Brighton are working on signing the player for the aforementioned figures. Pedullà further adds their negotiations to sign Coppola is concrete but isn’t concluded yet.
Aston Villa have expressed interest in the Hellas Verona player, but Brighton are pushing hard to seal the transfer. This suggests Unai Emery’s side arrived late in the race for the defender.
Coppola played 35 games for Hellas Verona this season.
