With the likes of Bryan Mbeumo, Marc Guehi and James Trafford all being linked with a move to Newcastle United this summer, it’s natural that the club may also move a few players on to refresh our squad.

And whilst it will hurt to see a number of fan favourites and cult heroes depart, it’s a necessary move to help the club move forward both on and off the pitch.

A number of names have been discussed as potential candidates to leave, with Sky Sport’s Keith Downie providing fresh insight into just how many players we could see depart Tyneside in the months to come.

From senior stalwarts to injury-riddled squad men, which of these players do you think will leave Newcastle United this summer?

According to Downie, a number of players could depart the club this summer, with six names being explicitly mentioned.

In a recent [Q&A for Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/amp/football/news/11678/13376031/newcastle-transfer-q-a-alexander-isak-future-summer-targets-and-eddie-howe-role-after-paul-mitchell-exit), the North East reporter was asked who could leave over the coming months, and this was his response:

“The likes of Martin Dubravka, Kieran Trippier, Matt Targett, Sean Longstaff, Callum Wilson and maybe Joe Willock could potentially depart this summer,” Downie said.

Of the names listed, the main surprise here is Kieran Trippier. Despite being heavily linked with a move away in the past, the veteran has been instrumental to our recent form and success, and his experience is something that would be  eye difficult to replace.

Joe Willock is the latest name to be added to the list of potential outgoings, where despite some underwhelming performances as of late, he still reportedly commands interest from Crystal Palace.

Eddie Howe and the club hierarchy face the difficult decision this window of acquiring Champions League talent whilst still retaining some integral squad depth to compete across four competitions.

Martin Dubravka is unfortunately surplus to requirements on Tyneside: hopefully we can recoup some money on the Slovakian after he signed a contract extension earlier in the season.

Matt Targett and Callum Wilson’s recent fitness woes should render the pair as prime candidates to depart this summer, though talks are still ongoing with Wilson and his representatives over his future.

Sean Longstaff is crucial in helping tick the homegrown quota required for our squad, but sitting so low in the midfield hierarchy could inspire the Geordie to look for first team football elsewhere.

And in regards to the aforementioned Trippier and Willock, they are perhaps the two who provide the most value and quality to the current squad. So barring us receiving an offer we can’t refuse, would it be much of a surprise to see both players still here next season?
