Sesko tells Arsenal exactly what they want to hear amid £92.5m transfer talks

Benjamin Sesko could be on his way to Arsenal this summer, if reports are to be believed.

The Gunners have opened "concrete talks" with RB Leipzig over a deal to sign Sesko this summer, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. The transfer could cost £92.5million, with the soon to be 22-year-old having signed a new contract with the Bundesliga outfit last summer.

That contract stopped Arsenal from signing him then, with Sesko wanting to gain another year's experience in the German top flight before re-assessing his future.

Following 21 goals and six assists in 43 appearances for the German side, that re-assessment has come now, with Arsenal keen to sign him once more.

Arsenal were lacking a striker for much of the second half of this season, following injuries to Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus. Midfielder Mikel Merino was used as a makeshift striker in a number of matches as they fell out of the title race, eventually finishing ten points behind Liverpool as runners-up for a third year running.

Another striker is imperative this summer and it appears Arsenal are already making waves to try and get a big-money deal over the line early on in the transfer window - which opens on Sunday.

Sesko turns 22 on Saturday and has been likened to Manchester City frontman Erling Haaland in the past. The two share a similar stature, with Sesko standing at 6ft 4ins tall, with both having incredible physicality and aerial ability, with electric pace to boot.

Haaland has been a revelation in the Premier League and Arsenal will hope Sesko can have the same impact after signing to guide them to their first Premier League title since 2004.

And Sesko has already told Arsenal exactly what they want to hear after comparisons with Haaland. Speaking at the end of last year he said: "Such comparisons motivate me and give me energy.

"They do not represent pressure. I will listen and learn so I can be even better than he is. My teammates at the club tell me that Haaland and I are very similar, especially in terms of speed. Most of them even tell me that I’m better than him!"

Arsenal will have one hell of a player on their hands if Sesko does indeed end up being better than Haaland. The striker has modelled his game on the Man City frontman, saying: "He's an amazing player, I've big respect for him and I usually watch many YouTube videos about him."
