Newcastle United are seriously interested in Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo, but the Magpies are concerned about one big part of the deal.
The 25-year-old is coming off a sensational Premier League season, scoring 20 goals. His brilliant form has attracted interest from several clubs across the Premier League, including Newcastle United.
Eddie Howe is eager to bolster his squad ahead of a hectic 2025/26 campaign, which sees them return to the Champions League after missing out on European football last season.
The Magpies are ready to spend this summer, and Howe has five players he wants Newcastle to sign – Mbeumo is one of them.
Despite Newcastle’s interest, Manchester United entered talks with Mbeumo earlier in May to try and steal a march on the Magpies.
Mbeumo’s future is still unclear as the transfer window opens, but a new report has shared how Newcastle and the player feel about a transfer this summer.

Bryan Mbeumo open to joining Newcastle United after talks
Recently, Geordie Boot Boys were told that Newcastle feel confident in signing Mbeumo, having held initial discussions with the player.
The Magpies have just been handed another huge boost in their race to sign him, as a new report from Give Me Sport has stated that Mbeumo is believed to have given a positive response when told about Newcastle’s long-term vision at St James’ Park.

The report adds that he is understood to be open to the idea of moving, especially with the offer of playing Champions League football.

Appearances 38
Goals 20
Assists 7
However, the report states that Newcastle are not convinced that they should spend £60m on Mbeumo. They are big fans of the player, but feel his valuation is on the high side.
Despite that, Newcastle believe Mbeumo is their best option this summer, having looked at signing Antoine Semenyo and Mohammed Kudus.
Newcastle United must pay the £60m fee for Bryan Mbeumo
Newcastle are now in a position where they can spend with much more freedom in the upcoming transfer window, and simply have to sign the big-name players who will bring more success to the club.
Mbeumo is undoubtedly one of those players. He even showed it against the Magpies this season. Two goals and an assist in three games against Newcastle show he has a terrific eye for goal and is unselfish in his approach to the game.
With Newcastle expected to spend over £100m this summer, the £60m fee still leaves Howe with a lot of room to bring other players to the club.
The upcoming transfer window is believed to be one of the most important in the club’s history. They must get it right to help build on what was a memorable season.
