“Good person, tremendous job” – Wolves player a big Vítor Pereira fan despite hardly any minutes

Portugal U21 manager Rui Jorge has included Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Carlos Forbs in the squad for the UEFA European U21 Championship that will take place in Slovenia next month.

On summer deadline day, Forbs left Ajax to join Wolves on loan with an obligation to buy if certain set conditions are met.

The forward played 260 minutes from 11 games in all competitions, managing just one assist in the process. It’s unclear whether conditions needed for Wolves to activate the mandatory purchase option have been fulfilled.

Forbs’ limited role at Wolves didn’t stop Jorge from including him in the squad for the upcoming tournament. A Bola caught up with the 21-year-old to discuss a few topics, including Wolves manager Vítor Pereira.

The Premier League club appointed Pereira as Gary O’Neil’s successor towards the end of December. Forbs was limited to 29 minutes from four games under the current manager, who helped Wolves finish 16th this season.

The Portugal U21 international only has positive things to say about Pereira’s impact at Wolves.

“A good person who changed groups and managed to stay in the Premier League. A tremendous job,” he said.

The attacker is called Carlos Forbs at the Premier League club and Carlos Borges while he’s with his country.

On his preference between Forbs and Borges, he explained: “It can be anyone. I don’t mind, but I think everyone calls me Forbs, so I think I prefer Carlos Forbs. Why is that? Because of Mum.”
