Christian Eriksen's agent drops hint over future plans ahead of Man Utd exit,'has a lot to give...'

Christian Eriksen will be looking for a new club once his Manchester United contract expires next month.

It was a difficult season for every Manchester United player. The team underperformed, there was a switch in management mid-season, and the Red Devils reached the Europa League final before losing to Tottenham Hotspur.

At least for Christian Eriksen, he can remember his final appearance for United fondly, having scored the winning goal in a 2-0 win over Aston Villa.

It marked an emotional send-off for a player who arrived at Old Trafford on a free three years ago, after spending an impressive season at Brentford, though his qualities as a midfielder were already known from his time at Tottenham and Ajax.

In the coming weeks, Eriksen’s agent Martin Schoots is set to be busy trying to find a new club for his experienced client.

Christian Eriksen not returning to Denmark yet

Although Eriksen still plays for the Denmark national team, the 33-year-old will not be returning to his homeland to join a Danish club this summer.

Eriksen will likely have plenty of offers when the transfer window opens, but it sounds like he is aiming for a league with a higher standard than Denmark.

Speaking to Denmark’s BT this week, Schoots was asked whether Eriksen would be returning to a Danish club.

Schoots stressed that Eriksen can still play at the highest level, but hinted that this won’t be the player’s last move and a return to Denmark could happen in the distant future.

“Christian is still ambitious and has a lot to give a bigger league,” Schoots said.

“I can easily see him playing in his home country in the future, but I think for now it will only be for the national team.”

Eriksen leaves United after making 107 appearances and contribution 26 goal contributions. He also won the Carabao Cup and FA Cup during his time at the club.

Eriksen could remain in the Premier League

Last month, Brentford manager Thomas Frank left the door open for Eriksen to return to the club.

This means Eriksen could remain in the Premier League and form a reunion with his former manager.

Frank said: “Christian is a fantastic player and probably the best Danish player in recent times.

“I think we saw most recently against Portugal that he is still in a really good place. There is no doubt that he really wants to play some more and had a really good time when he was with us. I am open to all players, but of course, there are lots of things that need to be worked out when it comes to transfers. I would say that nothing is closed.”

Frank was then asked if there had been any direct conversation about Eriksen, but he kept his cards close to his chest.

The Brentford manager added: “I can’t be that specific, and generally I usually say that I really like to talk about the players who are here right now, and if I have to talk about others, I usually say it could be Ronaldo or Messi, as it’s a bit safer to talk about. So I can’t really answer that.”
