Luis Diaz is now setting his sights on triumphs with Colombia's national side after a sparkling campaign with Liverpool. The 28-year-old proved a pivotal player in Arne Slot's inaugural season, notching an impressive haul of 17 goals, but has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.
The winger, affectionately dubbed 'Lucho', also etched his name into the history books as the second Colombian to hold aloft the Premier League trophy, following Juan Cuadrado's success with Chelsea during the 2014/2015 season. Yet, unlike Cuadrado, Diaz's contribution was instrumental to Liverpool securing a historic 20th league title.
Claiming the left-wing spot as his own in the latter part of the season and sometimes stepping up as a makeshift centre-forward, the Barrancas-born sensation isn't pausing to bask in his local glory; he's determined to mirror these achievements at international level.
During a conversation with TNT Sports Mexico post-Liverpool's league victory celebrations, Diaz reflected: "Right now, I'm coming to terms with what I've achieved.
"It's not easy to get here, there were difficulties, but here we are, enjoying the moment. We won the Premier League, which was the dream I was missing."
As Colombia sits sixth in the CONMEBOL qualification for the World Cup, significant fixtures are looming against nations like Peru and Argentina. Diaz has his eyes set on another dream, looking forward to potentially adding a World Cup or Copa América to his accolades.
Diaz elaborated: "I'm obviously happy for winning everything with Liverpool. And well, with the national team, winning a World Cup or a Copa América would be a dream for me. So we'll work towards that."

Diaz has effortlessly charmed the Anfield faithful, becoming an instant hit with a song to his name that echoes around the stands. His trophy cabinet boasts a Premier League title alongside the domestic cups since his transfer from Porto in January 2022.
Though the Champions League glory eluded him with Liverpool's narrow defeat to Real Madrid, Diaz's stature within Slot's squad continues to soar. Despite this, whispers of interest from overseas linger, as Al-Nassr from Saudi Arabia contemplates tempting him away.
The draw of Barcelona also looms over the horizon. The Catalan attraction is undeniable, yet no formal bid has been made, with the Saudi club's admiration being more conspicuous.

Contrasting these speculations, Diaz professed his eagerness to remain a Red earlier this month, even teasing the possibility of extending his contract which still has two years remaining.
"Yes, happy," he confided to Telemundo. "From the first day I arrived, I've always been happy, calm, enjoying the football played at this great team. We'll be talking about it, we'll talk about it (the renewal).
"For me, I would stay however many years it takes, [but] it also depends on the club, everything. These are details that are sorted out separately. Very calm, I'm happy and enjoying the Premier League."
