The NFL outfit are keen on acquiring a majority stake in the Ibrox outfit, giving them control over the big-picture decisions.

Dave King and a number of shareholders have agreed to part ways with their stake to facilitate the transition of power.

He claimed on 30 May that an announcement is expected shortly, which means that all the red tape has been completed.

The Americans expected to finalise the deal by the end of May and things appear to be close to completion now.

It remains to be seen when the new manager is announced, as that will be one of the biggest decisions they make this summer.

Davide Ancelotti currently appears to be the frontrunner to get the job.

Rangers now set for a busy few weeks

As 49ers Enterprises near the completion of their takeover, the next few weeks will be critical for establishing their vision at Ibrox.

With a deal for a 51% controlling stake secured and legal processes underway, the consortium, led by Paraag Marathe and Andrew Cavenagh, will focus on several key areas.

They must finalise the appointment of a permanent manager to align with their strategic goals before the July Champions League qualifiers.

The 49ers will also prioritise squad investment, planning a modest £25-30million per season to strengthen the team while adhering to PSR rules, potentially making Vaclav Cerny’s loan permanent.

Infrastructure improvements, including Ibrox renovations, are planned to enhance fan experience and revenue.

Off-field, they’ll explore community-focused revenue streams, leveraging Rangers’ global fanbase.

The appointment of Kevin Thelwell as sporting director signals a structured recruitment approach, mirroring their data-driven success at Leeds.

The 49ers’ financial backing will support these initiatives, ensuring Gers’ competitiveness against Celtic while maintaining their commitment to Leeds United.
