2 sources claim meeting scheduled with Manchester United to finalise Red Devils player’s transfer

Manchester United’s Antony impressed while on loan at Real Betis during the second half of this season. He managed nine goals and five assists from 26 games and finished the loan spell with a defeat to Chelsea in the UEFA Conference League final on Wednesday.

The La Liga club have publicly stated they want to extend the winger’s stay. Now that they have finished their season, Real Betis will work on trying to secure a new agreement with Manchester United for Antony.

That’s according to Friday’s edition of Marca, which states Real Betis have a meeting scheduled with Manchester United next week to ‘evaluate different scenarios’.

In other words, the clubs will discuss various formulas but extending loan for one season has been ruled out.

Marca state Ruben Amorim’s side are looking for a sale and Real Betis could buy the 25-year-old, by letting Manchester United have a percentage on a future sale. They add the player needs to do his part, meaning lowering his salary, to return to the club.

ABC Sevilla also state the Spanish club’s emissaries will travel to England next week as a meeting is scheduled with Manchester United.

The newspaper local to Real Betis say their idea is to take him on a new loan, with an option or obligation to buy.

They further add if it’s a new loan deal, there has to be a mandatory purchase obligation for next summer, with Manchester United having a high percentage of a sell-on clause. If not, he has to extend his contract at Old Trafford before going out on a new loan deal.

These details including Antony’s salary, terms of the operation need to be finalised during the meeting with Manchester United in the next few days.

More developments will be expected after the meeting between the two clubs.
