After weeks of waiting, it has been finally made official. Real Madrid have announced that they have signed Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool.
“Real Madrid CF and Liverpool FC have reached an agreement that will keep Trent Alexander-Arnold at our club for the next six seasons, from June 1, 2025, to June 30, 2031,” the statement from the club read.
The England international becomes the Merengues’ second signing of the Xabi Alonso era, following the arrival of Dean Huijsen, and will be able to compete in the FIFA Club World Cup starting next month.
Alexander-Arnold has signed a six-year contract with Real Madrid, committing to the club until the summer of 2031. The contract is understood to have a €1 billion release clause, even though it has not been divulged in the statement.
One of the main issues in his arrival was reaching an agreement with Liverpool to release him before his contract expired on June 30 so that he can play for Los Blancos at the Club World Cup.
The agreement, however, was reached earlier this week and the right-back will now join the club from June 1, ready to participate in the tournament in the USA.
