Bruno Fernandes is giving serious consideration to leaving Manchester United after receiving a money-spinning offer from Al-Hilal.

The Saudi Pro League club are prepared to pay a transfer fee in the region of £80million and will offer the United skipper a dizzying salary of €25million a year net.

Fernandes is said to be torn over his response but at this stage if refusing to rule out the possibility of bringing down the curtain on his five-and-a-half year spell at Old Trafford.

United, for their part, would be reluctant sellers but are not in a position to turn down such a considerable fee for a player who will turn 31 in September.

The Athletic, meanwhile, report that by making it known they are receptive to Al-Hilal’s advances a bidding war, involving Europe’s elite clubs, could ensue.

Fernandes, meanwhile, has spoken about his future openly on two occasions in recent weeks.

Following his own sub-par performance in the costly Europa League final defeat against Tottenham the former Sporting Lisbon star said: ‘If the club thinks it’s time to part ways because they want to do some cash-in, football sometimes is like this.’

Just a few days later, however, the former Sporting Lisbon star softened his stance slightly in the wake of victory over Aston Villa on the final day of a wretched Premier League campaign.

He said: ‘I am just a very lucky guy who is living his dream in one of the best clubs in the world, in the best league in the world. What more can I ask?

‘I just have to give it my all, for my team-mates, for myself, for my fans and for everyone who has been through every moment with me. That’s all.’

For his part, United’s beleaguered manager Ruben Amorim has remained steadfast in his determination to keep his skipper.

‘He is really important for us and what we want to build for the team,’ Amorim said on Tuesday before United’s first post-season friendly against ASEAN All Stars in Kuala Lumpur.
