The importance of Bruno Fernandes to Manchester United is unprecedented and without the Portugal star, Ruben Amorim may have been in a relegation battle.
It is thanks to Bruno Fernandes that the appalling 2024-25 season was not even worse.
Fernandes was named Manchester United’s player of the year, with virtually zero competition for the award, with 19 goals and 19 assists tallied up in the campaign.
Rio Ferdinand also chose Fernandes for his impact on the pitch as captain, seeing him at times become a one-man team.
So when rumours of a possible sale emerged, there was widespread frustration. This included the dressing room, with United players desperate for Fernandes to stay.
This always appeared to be the likely result of Al-Hilal’s interest, but now there has been a concerning development.

Bruno Fernandes is now considering an offer from Al-Hilal
Early reports saw United adamant against selling Fernandes, with Amorim considering him unsellable.
However, on Thursday night, it emerged that Fernandes’ agent had agreed terms with Al-Hilal, which was a worrying sign that the deal may be progressing.

Now, it has been claimed by various sources, including The Times, that Fernandes is now seriously considering the £700,000-a-week offer on the table from Al-Hilal to leave United this summer.
This is a long stretch from the clear no, which was previously claimed to be the Portuguese magnifico’s stance.
Al-Hilal is prepared to offer £80m for the deal to go through, which internally, there is a feeling that if United entertains the offer, it will bring European teams to the table to sign Fernandes.
This fee would be huge for United’s PSR, but catastrophic for the on-field performances.
Bruno Fernandes fed up with Ineos at Manchester United
In addition to Fernandes considering the offer, talkSPORT’s Alex Crook has claimed that the number eight was very unhappy with the United ownership last week.
“Bruno is fed up with what’s been going on at Manchester United! I’m told he was one of the senior players who was very disgruntled with the ownership in the immediate aftermath of the Europa League final. I think he is disillusioned.”

This is a damning insight into the way Ineos have run United over the past year, with the club captain considering his future elsewhere as a result.
Fernandes holds incredibly high standards, and if they are not being met, then it is little shock to find that he is actively considering an exit from the club.
We just hope he stays…
