Midfielder Bruno Fernandes is seriously considering leaving Manchester United this summer, according to The Athletic.
The 30-year-old has attracted interest from Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal, who are looking to secure a marquee signing ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup.
The Athletic claims Al-Hilal have offered a four-year contract worth €25 million per year net, and they are prepared to pay Man United £80m for their captain.
By contrast, the Daily Mail claims they are willing to hand Fernandes a deal worth up to £200m over three years, including bonuses, and are ready to offer United £100m to secure the midfielder’s signature.
If Al-Hilal pay £100m for him, the deal would break their record for the most expensive signing in their history.
The record is held by Neymar, who joined the club for £86.3m from Paris Saint-Germain in 2023.
It would also break the record for the most expensive departure in United’s history – currently held by Cristiano Ronaldo, who joined Real Madrid for £80m in 2009.
Fernandes’ agent, Miguel Pinho, was spotted outside the Four Seasons Hotel in Riyadh on Thursday.
A-Hilal officials are known to meet with players and representatives there, suggesting that a move could be on the cards.
There is a feeling internally at United that European teams will attempt to sign the Portugal international if they entertain Al Hilal’s bid.
Fernades has left the door open regarding his future, previously stating that he would leave if the club wanted to raise some money.
However, his tone shifted slightly after United’s victory over Aston Villa on Sunday, when he said, ‘I am just a very lucky guy who is living his dream in one of the best clubs in the world, in the best league in the world. What more can I ask?’
Man United remain calm about the situation, with Fernandes showing commitment during their post-season tour to Malaysia and Hong Kong.
