Ex-Royal Marine appears in court over Liverpool parade crash injuring dozens

**LONDON** 

A former Royal Marine commando on Friday appeared in a UK court accused of driving his car into a crowd during Liverpool FC's trophy parade.

53-year-old Paul Doyle has been accused of seven charges after he drove a car into a crowd on Water Street in Liverpool city center on Monday during a victory parade celebrating Liverpool Football Club's 2024–25 Premier League title win.

The charges include wounding with intent, causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent, attempting to cause GBH with intent and dangerous driving.

Doyle is a former Royal Marine who is believed to have served in the 1990s, according to reports.

Merseyside Police said that a total of 79 people were injured, while the youngest victim was nine years old and the oldest was 78.

Doyle, the father-of-three of Burghill Road in West Derby was escorted Liverpool Magistrates Court, wearing a black suit, grey tie and white shirt, the BBC reported.
