Bruno Fernandes is edging closer to a Manchester United departure, with late-night discussions taking place in Saudi Arabia. The Portuguese midfielder has been tipped for a move to the Middle East following United's dismal season.
The Red Devils ended up languishing at 15th in the Premier League and also suffered defeat in the Europa League final against Tottenham. Al-Hilal, one of the Saudi teams, is keen on signing Fernandes, viewing him as a star addition for the upcoming season.
Their chances of securing the playmaker seem to have increased with recent developments. As reported by Mail Online, Fernandes' agent Miguel Pinho engaged in extensive talks with Al-Hilal to get a grasp of the project being proposed.
He met with club officials at the Four Seasons Hotel in Riyadh, with 'positive' discussions running late into the night. Saudi sources have reportedly told Fernandes that this offer is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, with others suggesting he is 'seriously considering' the move, although he remains calm about the situation.
They've proposed to boost his salary to a staggering £700k per week, while he could pocket around £200m over a three-year contract. They're also prepared to fork out £100m to United to secure their captain, reports the Mirror.

It's suggested that Al-Hilal officials have given Fernandes a 72-hour deadline to ponder the offer, expressing their eagerness to seal the deal before this summer's Club World Cup.
Reflecting on the Europa League disappointment, Fernandes dropped a bombshell: "If the club thinks it's time to part ways because they want to do some cashing in or whatever, it's what it is. Football sometimes is like this. I've always said I will be here until the club says to me that it's time to go."
The playmaker continued, vowing his commitment: "I'm eager to do more, to be able to bring the club to the great days. The day that the club thinks that I'm too much or it's time to part ways, football is like this, you never know it. But I've always said it and I keep my word in the same way."
Gaffer Ruben Amorim chimed in on his skipper's prospects at the club: "It's important for Bruno to see that we are changing a lot of things in our club. The behaviour, the everyday organisation, the pace of training. All these things, if he sees that we are doing that across all levels, he will want to stay at this club. He loves this club."
Amorim stressed the bond over Champions League ambitions: "That is the most important thing - not the Champions League. He wants to win with this club and he trains and behaves at a high level. Everybody here needs to do that - he will be here for that."

Boss Amorim has been vocal about his hopes to keep Fernandes on board. The 30 year old maestro's contract at Old Trafford is ticking with just over two years left on the clock.
