Chelsea FC defender Tosin Adarabioyo has dismissed reports indicating that he turned down a call-up to represent Nigeria’s Super Eagles.

The 1,96 meters tall player, whose full name is Abdul-Nasir Oluwatosin Oluwadoyinsolami Adarabioyo, was born at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, London, England, to parents of Nigerian descent.

Sometimes known mononymously as Tosin, the 27-year-old has turned out for England’s under-16, under-17, under-17 and under-19 national teams, and he remains eligible to play for Nigeria.

“I’ve never turned down Nigeria and I’ve never had any conversations with them to say that I’ll be going to Nigeria,” Adarabioyo said on Brila.

“At the point of last season where there was a little bit of conversation, I told them I just want to focus on club football.

“I was in my last year at Fulham and I just wanted to have a solid run there. Now I’m at Chelsea, my first year, which I wanted to concentrate on again.”

It remains to be seen whether Super Eagles head coach will hand Adarabioyo a call-up, with Nigeria set to take part in the 2025 AFCON finals in Morocco and 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, which are scheduled for later this year.
