Manchester United are desperately trying to land Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo as early in the transfer window as possible but according to Football Insider, the Red Devils might end up missing out on the Cameroonian international.

The winger’s contract will expire in 2026 and Brentford are not going to risk losing him as a free agent. Thomas Frank has admitted that the club is open to selling key players and most experts believe Mbeumo will be one of the big names to leave in the summer.

His current market value is €50 million and the Bees are demanding around €60-70 million to offload him.

Manchester United are set to hold talks with the player’s representatives but Newcastle United are also in this transfer race and the Magpies hold a very important advantage.

Will Bryan Mbeumo choose NUFC over Man United?

After their woeful season, Manchester United are working on a shoestring budget which is forcing them to go for economical signings. Bryan Mbeumo might fit their requirement perfectly but there’s still a fear that the 25-year-old will opt for Newcastle United.

The Magpies have secured Champions League football for the next season and the report in Football Insider claims that this will be a key factor in helping the Brentford forward choose his next destination.

Like any other player, Bryan Mbeumo also dreams of playing in the elite tournaments and at St James’ Park, he will get that opportunity right away.

Eddie Howe feels the Cameroonian international will be the ideal replacement for Jacob Murphy and if the manager can guarantee him regular playing time, Mbeumo wouldn’t mind ditching Manchester United.

United will offload Antony, Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford so the right-hand side will be completely free of competition. However, without European football, it will be very hard to convince the forward. If it was a matter of just one season, maybe Bryan Mbeumo could take a leap of faith but the kind of mess they are in right now, Ruben Amorim could need two or three campaigns to guide the club back into the Champions League.

Newcastle United, on the other hand, are a club that is constantly on the rise and under their new ownership, the club has been able to properly structure their squad as well as their backroom staff.
