Real Betis arrange Man Utd meeting to plan potential Antony deal, includes performance related add-ons

Antony’s future is up in the air after a successful loan spell, persuading Real Betis to try to negotiate a way to sign the Brazilian winger again.

Although the 2024/25 season has come to an end, Antony’s loan deal at Real Betis doesn’t expire until the end of June.

The Manchester United winger impressed during his time with Betis, despite losing the Europa Conference League final to Chelsea.

Antony admitted he was ‘proud’ to wear the Betis shirt after making 26 appearances for the La Liga side, scoring nine goals and registering five assists.

Betis still ended their season on a high by securing Europa League football next season, and they hope that Antony will be part of that, so long as they can reach an agreement with United this summer.

Real Betis arrange Antony meeting with Manchester United

It could be a major week to decide Antony’s future, even though we are still eagerly awaiting the transfer window to open with the hope that United can get their business done early.

That includes selling players deemed surplus to requirements, and there is no shortage of those at Old Trafford.

Antony’s form in Spain is likely to attract attention when the transfer market opens, but Real Betis are making their first move to keep the Brazil international.

According to Spanish outlet ABC, Betis have organised a meeting with United to try to secure Antony under rather hopeful conditions, as they try to take advantage of the player’s willingness to remain at the club.

Betis are trying to find a way to negotiate a deal to keep Antony, proposing another loan deal that includes an option or obligation to buy based on his performance.

It could be argued that Antony has already proven himself at Betis by helping them to qualify for the Europa League after a strong second half to the season.

United will hope this launches a bidding war for the 25-year-old winger.

Antony stats for Man Utd, Ajax, Real Betis and Sao Paulo

It may be premature to say there’s no way back for Antony at United, but it is unlikely that we’ll see him playing at Old Trafford next season.

Antony’s best spell since moving to United came on loan at Real Betis, which sadly tells you a lot about his underwhelming spell at the club.

The Brazilian made 96 appearances for United, scoring 12 goals and registering five assists.

With Ineos planning a clear-out, Antony could be seen as an option to raise money for incoming transfers.
