**Newcastle United's interest in Bryan Mbeumo has been a matter of fact, or as close to fact as we can get when it comes to transfer stories, for around a year now.**
The Brentford winger has been identified as a 'priority target' for Newcastle since the season began, with their interest only increasing thanks to the winger's scintillating form for Brentford this season.
That form has brought other clubs to the fore, too, though, and one of those is said to be Manchester United, who have already taken Matheus Cunha off the market.
Reports earlier in the season suggested that the Magpies were more than prepared to pay Brentford's £60 million valuation to bring the player to St James' Park.

Bryan Mbeumo is keen on a move to Newcastle
Newcastle have suddenly decided £60m is too much for Mbeumo

However, [Give Me Sport](https://www.givemesport.com/manchester-united-transfer-news-mbeumo-firmly-in-frame-delap-alternative-old-trafford/) are now saying that Newcastle aren't as keen to spend that much on Mbeumo and could look to try and haggle over the price.
Mbeumo is reportedly keen on the move after hearing about the project at Newcastle, and playing Champions League football next season will be another big deciding factor.
However, if the Magpies are going to start haggling over the price, they may find themselves losing ground in the race for his signature.
Newcastle should still be in the driving seat for Bryan Mbeumo, but that could change
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Newcastle having Champions League football to offer and Manchester United having no European football of any kind to contend with next season could be the deciding factor from the player's perspective.
We really hope Newcastle aren't going to let a top player slip because they suddenly decided to start penny-pinching. We've known about this valuation for months now, it's hardly a surprise.
While we understand that there are other targets and it's going to be an expensive summer for the club, if Mbeumo is a 'priority' and his valuation has been the same for months, surely we've budgeted for this. Just get the deal done.
