Liverpool have made an improved bid for Florian Wirtz which is closer to Bayer Leverkusen's £126million valuation. Wirtz, 22, is expected to sign a five-year contract with the Reds if they can strike a deal, as the Leverkusen star has rejected Bayern Munich.
It's understood that Liverpool lodged an opening bid of £85m earlier this week. German outlet Bild now report that their second offer is worth a whopping £100m plus £10-12m in potential add-ons.
This could be enough to tempt Leverkusen into a sale, with the Bundesliga club previously demanding £126m during talks with Bayern. But given that Liverpool are a foreign club, his price could be reduced.
Bayern chiefs appear to have accepted that Wirtz has chosen to join the Premier League champions, who met with the Germany international and his parents near Blackpool last week.
