Rodrygo is reportedly a player whose situation Arsenal are monitoring closely this summer amid the possibility Real Madrid will choose to cash in on the Brazil international.
The Spanish club have reputedly yet to communicate their intentions to the 24-year-old. Rodrygo is also said not to have requested an exit at this stage.
Carlo Ancelotti agreeing to leave Madrid - and become Rodrygo's national team coach with Brazil - and the subsequent appointment of Xabi Alonso as his replacement has seemingly delayed a decision on the player's future. He is purportedly still awaiting talks with the club's new head coach.
The Madrid-based sports newspaper Diario AS claims those two will have the final say. However, in anticipation of Rodrygo becoming available, the Gunners have reportedly positioned themselves for that possibility by having initial informal contact.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is even said to be counting on the player. Chelsea, though, also reputedly like Rodrygo and are keeping an eye on the player.
The difference between them and their London rivals is that they allegedly have not made informal contact like the Gunners, albeit there is an expectation that they will soon. Rodrygo is said to be seen as someone who ticks all the boxes for the Blues and, as such, a player they want to make room for.
Three reputed parameters of their he satisfies are being young but experienced and still having room to develop. It would also purportedly meet their want to make a statement in the market, with the circa £84million (€100m) price it would reportedly take to do a deal.
Notably, Rodrygo will not be rubbing shoulders with Gabriel Martinelli next month when Brazil meet up before a pair of World Cup qualifiers against Ecuador and Paraguay. Ancelotti has left the forward out of his first squad due to a lack of fitness following injury problems that curtailed his season with Madrid early.
