Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou has managed to end the club’s trophy drought this season
Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou might just head for the exit doors in the summer after delivering the Europa League trophy this season. During the Australian’s tenure, the Lilywhites endured a dismal domestic campaign and finished the Premier League season just a place above the relegation zone. But Ange’s men still managed to perform well in Europe and ended the club’s long-standing trophy drought.
Many fans believe that the disastrous domestic campaign is enough to lead Big Ange to the exit doors at N17. His team registered 22 league losses and they are statistically the worst Spurs team ever in the Premier League era. Despite enduring such a dismal Premier League season, many Tottenham players still want Ange Postecoglou at the helm next season as they look to build on the Europa League success.
Ange Postecoglou is facing an uncertain future at Tottenham heading into the summer.
Ange Postecoglou is facing an uncertain future at Tottenham heading into the summer.
The North London club need to address a lot of problems at N17 before thinking about competing with other top clubs in the league. Daniel Levy must not get complacent heading into the summer as Spurs need to be ruthless if they want to kickstart a new era at Hotspur Way in the right way.
Paul Robinson believes Tottenham should sack Ange Postecoglou to not repeat Man United mistake
The Spurs fans are waiting eagerly to know Ange Postecoglou’s fate at N17. The Australian has remained adamant that he wants to continue his project at the North London club. But Daniel Levy is still deciding whether to back the ex-Celtic boss for next season, or relieve him from his duties in the next few days.
Now, former Spurs player Paul Robinson has urged the club to sack Big Ange and save millions heading into next season. Speaking to Tottenham News, Robinson said,
“He’s done what his remit was at the start of this season to get Champions League football and to get a trophy. No matter how he’s done it, he’s done that. But then the other side of that is Daniel Levy will have at the forefront of his mind about Erik Ten Hag at Man United.”
The former Spurs player added,
“90 minutes saved his job, 90 minutes got him £100million, and then he was sacked four months later. Daniel Levy will be conscious of that because the domestic campaign was so poor. I really do think there’s a difficult decision for Daniel Levy to make.”
Paul Robinson suggests that Ange Postecoglou has achieved his objectives of winning a trophy and qualifying for the Champions League next season. However, the ex-Spurs player believes that Daniel Levy might be thinking about Erik ten Hag’s situation at Man United while deciding Big Ange’s fate at N17. Robinson points out that last year’s FA Cup final win kept Ten Hag at the Old Trafford dugout heading into the new season and the Red Devils spent millions in the summer only to sack the Dutchman four months later. So, Levy would be conscious of that and would not want to repeat the same mistake.
