Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has named Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho in the starting line-up for today's friendly against Hong Kong because his team "need to do better" than they did against ASEAN All-Stars.
United were beaten 1-0 by ASEAN All-Stars in Malaysia in the opening game of their post-season tour on Wednesday, producing a flat and uninspiring performance.
Both Fernandes and Garnacho, who could leave Old Trafford this summer, stepped off the bench at half-time after Amorim made the decision to make wholesale changes at the break.
Having been booed off by some fans in Kuala Lumpur, United will be hoping to deliver a better performance against Hong Kong, prompting Amorim to include two of his most talented players in the starting XI.
Asked why the duo were starting, Amorim told MUTV: "Yes, because we need to respect [the opposition] and we need to do better than the last game.
"We understand that the players are tired of travelling. They also have all the commercial things that we do when we get together with our fans.
"But now is time to perform and show good things to our fans."
United have informed Garnacho that he can leave the club this summer and Fernandes is considering a move to Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Hilal.
