Liverpool have reportedly made a second offer for Bayern Leverkusen attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz, according to David Ornstein.
The Reds are eager to bring Wirtz to Anfield, and the player is keen to join Arne Slot's newly-crowned Premier League champions. They have successfully fended off competition from Bayern Munich for the 22-year-old and are now trying to finalise a deal.
Wirtz would follow Jeremie Frimpong through the door following his Leverkusen teammate's £30m move. The offer made to the Bundesliga club is a package deal that would make him the club's record signing.

Liverpool's overall offer is worth up to €130m (£110m) and comprises a guaranteed fee and potential add-ons for the Germany international. It would shatter the club's previous transfer record of £75m spent on Virgil van Dijk in the summer of 2018.
Ornstein delved into the Reds' latest proposal to Leverkusen and explained that this was "an improved second bid" and that the figure was a "top-end amount". The versatile playmaker informed Bayern last week that a move to Anfield was his preference, and a move is looking increasingly likely.
Wirtz has developed into one of the most exciting talents in European football, the "best midfielder in the world" according to former striker Patrick Helmes. He played a crucial role in Leverkusen's unbeaten 2023-24 Bundesliga title-winning season.
The line of communication between the two clubs over the German ensued when Frimpong was targeted as Trent Alexander-Arnold's replacement.
If the Reds can get the deal sorted, they would have signed two players developed by former midfielder Xabi Alonso, who turned down the Anfield job last year. Slot will instead get his hands on the pair and build on a title-winning season.
Wirtz and Frimpong could soon be joined in Merseyside by Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez. Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the club are "advancing in talks" to sign the Hungarian, in what is proving to be a "big summer" as Virgil van Dijk suggested was on the horizon.
