Trent Alexander-Arnold will now join Real Madrid next month.

Trent Alexander-Arnold has been sent a message by one of his soon-to-be Real Madrid teammates after his Liverpool exit was confirmed. The Reds announced on Friday that an agreement had been reached for the right-back to leave Anfield before his contract expires at the end of June.

Alexander-Arnold's contract is set to run out on June 30, where he would have left as a free agent. Liverpool will now receive a fee worth around £10million after accepting an offer from Madrid, with the transfer being completed on Sunday when the summer transfer window officially opens.

The move for Alexander-Arnold to switch to the Santiago Bernabeu has been anticipated for some time, and has now been confirmed. Madrid wanted to sign the Liverpool vice-captain before his contract expires in order to have him available for the Club World Cup - which will be held in the United States next month.

Madrid confirmed the signing of Alexander-Arnold on Instagram with a post that read: "Welcome Trent". That post received more than one million likes, including from Liverpool stars Dominik Szoboszlai and Kostas Tsimikas.

The post also saw a message from Madrid star Rodrygo, who simply wrote: "Wooooow" accompanied by three fire emojis as he also liked the post.

Madrid stars Jude Bellingham and Thibaut Courtois also liked the post announcing the signing of Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool.

The message from Rodrygo comes as Alexander-Arnold also made a swift - and brutal - change to his Instagram profile. Within an hour of Liverpool confirming the agreement with the La Liga giants, Alexander-Arnold removed 'Liverpool' from his bio and replaced it with 'Real Madrid C.F'.

Alexander-Arnold's first appearance for Madrid could come on June 18, when they take on Al-Hilal in the first game of the Club World Cup.
