May absolutely showed out with athletes throwing ‘fits. Though, it was mainly off the court this month because we are looking back at not only the Met Gala, but the NBA conference finals for the men (with an ideal varsity jacket for Knicks fans), as well as a few elevated WNBA Tunnel ‘fits, courtside looks, and a nod to Angel Reese’s first Reebok collection.
So, let’s get into it. Keep scrolling to see the looks that caught our eye this month, and be sure to check back next month for more. In order of our favorites, we present:
Rickea Jackson

Ugh, not only is Los Angeles Sparks forward Rickea Jackson’s face a work of art, she’s insistent on making her game day look one, too. The Haus Labs denim eyeshadow smudged out, combined with the silver eyeliner? The runway piece by haute couture brand Corii Burns? She took Tunnel Fits to new heights.
Angel Reese

Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese attended the Met Gala this month, where she was on the hosting committee for the night, wearing a Thom Brown long-sleeved bustier top and a high-waisted corseted ballroom skirt with a train. Her hair and makeup looked glamorous, but that sliver of skin between the bottom of the bustier and the top of the corset highlights why working with a tailor is always a win-win.

There is something deeply cool about a varsity jacket, like the Kith x Jeff Hamilton New York Knicks piece worn by New York Knicks guard Josh Hart before Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals against the Indiana Pacers. The collaboration is from the 2023-2024 season, but is there a better time to bring this back out? I don’t think so. If you have a spare $4,750 lying around, you can also own this jacket.

Spike Lee

Director Spike Lee wore a custom New York Knicks-inspired outfit to the Cannes Film Festival for the premiere of Highest 2 Lowest. The designer, Cointel, said the suit is self-referential to one of Lee’s characters, Mars Blackmon, from his film She’s Gotta Have It. No one is more excited for the Knicks than Spike Lee, and it’s adorable.
Savannah James

While LeBron James had to sit out the Met Gala due to injury, his wife, Savannah, attended wearing a custom look by Anifa Mvuemba, the Black woman designer behind the label Hanifa. Much like Angel Reese’s Met Gala look, the bodice and the dramatic fluted skirt draw the eyes’ attention.
Aneesah Morrow
Newly drafted Connecticut Sun forward Aneesah Morrow has already had her Tunnel Fits down. The deconstructed Sun top is fun, and so is the layered skirt, but the boots keep the look from being too cutesy, giving us a strong start to her WNBA career.

Dallas Wings guard DiJonai Carrington gave a nod to her fellow Reebok athlete Angel Reese’s first collection for the brand. The sky blue sleeveless catsuit was the same one Reese wore last year to preview her first collection ahead of its launch. It’s still available for $35.

Los Angeles Sparks forward Rae Burrell has such a fun, edgy style. The lace top and the baggy cargo jeans are both chic and rugged, and the headscarf literally ties it all together.
Bam Adebayo

Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo showed off his girlfriend A’ja Wilson’s new pink Nike A’One “A’ura” sneakers. The outfit is calm, consisting of pink shorts, a white T-shirt, and a fitted hat, allowing the shoes to be the focal point of the look. I appreciated the relaxed fit, and it was a cute way to say “look what I have,” ahead of the sneaker’s official launch.

New England Patriots receiver Stefon Diggs is having quite the month. Fresh off his Met Gala appearance, he and Cardi B found time to see the Knicks play. He wore a denim short set, which is perfectly nice, but the accessories — the headscarf encrusted with crystals? The decal on his Timberlands? — are the real stars of the show. Who doesn’t mind a man who likes a little accoutrement?
