Rangers stars react as 49ers takeover confirmed

It is a pivotal summer for the Gers as they attempt to wrestle the Scottish Premiership crown back from Celtic.

The takeover marks a new era for the Auchenhowie outfit and work will begin straight away to try and correct the errors of the previous regime.

The Light Blues took to Instagram to announce that the deal was done, saying: “Rangers Football Club is pleased to announce that a consortium of investors, led by Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises, has purchased a majority stake in the club, with approval from the Scottish FA.

“The consortium will chart a new strategic vision for the club’s future prioritising on-pitch performance and long-term financial sustainability.”

Current Gers stars Jack Butland and James Tavernier liked the post.

49ers have huge job at Rangers

The new ownership have a huge task on their hands this summer as they take control of the club.

The Bears are need of a major overhaul in terms of the playing squad, as they are currently not good enough to compete with Brendan Rodgers’ side on the pitch.

Several key players could be set to depart, with the likes of Nico Raskin and Mohamed Diomande set to attract interest from south of the border.

Their key decision though, will be the next manager after Barry Ferguson departed at the end of the season after replacing Philippe Clement in February after the Belgian was sacked.

Finding the right man is crucial as it could define the kind of start that the takeover has, with Davide Ancelotti currently the frontrunner for the role after Steven Gerrard seemingly ruled himself out of the running.

Overall, it is a very exciting time to be a fan of the Gers, and there will be a lot of twists and turns to come in the next few months, on and off the pitch.

It is about time that positivity was back on the agenda in the blue half of Glasgow, it has been a miserable few years after winning the title in and 2020-21 season and hopefully the new owners can bring it back.
