Liverpool improve Florian Wirtz bid to€130m

Liverpool have submitted an improved offer of €130m including add-ons for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Florian Wirtz.

Leverkusen turned down an opening approach from Liverpool for Wirtz but there is optimism that the latest proposal can find an agreement.

The €130m (£109m) bid represents a club record fee for Liverpool, eclipsing the £75m paid to sign Virgil van Dijk in January 2018.

According to The Athletic, the deal includes a fixed-fee amount plus potential add-ons. Wirtz has made clear his desire to join Liverpool and move to the Premier League.

The Germany international emerged as a key target for Liverpool earlier his month, with the Reds moving ahead of Bayern Munich and Manchester City in the race for the midfielder.

The 22-year-old has been named as the Bundesliga Player of the Season in consecutive campaigns and recorded 31 goals and assists for Bayer Leverkusen in 2024/25.

Liverpool confident after improved Wirtz bid

All parties are keen to find a swift resolution. Liverpool are hopeful their latest offer will be enough. Current negotiations centre around the structure of the add-ons in the transfer.

Wirtz is set to become the second Bayer Leverkusen player to join Liverpool this summer, with a deal already agreed for Jeremie Frimpong. The latter’s transfer is expected to be announced imminently. Liverpool have activated the Dutch wing-back’s release clause with Frimpong signed as a replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold.
