Paul Scholes says Manchester United should sell star man

Ruben Amorim has confirmed he will remain at Manchester United next season, ending weeks of speculation around his future following a dismal campaign.

Despite guiding the team to a Europa League final, which ended in heartbreak against Tottenham, the Red Devils slumped to an embarrassing 15th place finish in the Premier League with just 42 points.

United’s failure to qualify for the Champions League has dealt a huge financial blow, forcing the club into a summer of difficult decisions.

The club now face significant pressure from Financial Fair Play and Profit and Sustainability Rules, with an aggressive overhaul expected in the coming months.

Several big names are reportedly on the chopping block, and one of them could be Bruno Fernandes.

The Manchester United captain is being heavily courted by Saudi Arabian giants Al-Hilal, who have already tabled a monumental offer for the Portuguese playmaker.

According to the Daily Mail, Fernandes’ representatives held extensive talks with Al-Hilal on Monday, where he was offered a mind-blowing £700,000 per week tax-free — a package worth around £200 million over three years.

It’s believed Al-Hilal are preparing a £100 million bid to United, with the club reportedly giving Fernandes just 72 hours to make his decision.

Club legend Paul Scholes has publicly called for United to accept the offer, telling The Overlap: “They are talking about £100m for him. Man United cannot say no to that.”

Paul Scholes continued: “I know he has been brilliant and carried the team on his back but where does he actually play? He almost confuses the whole system.”

Despite the criticism, Fernandes remains the team’s standout performer and Amorim sees him as vital to the club’s rebuild.

However, the harsh reality of United’s finances means a sale could be too tempting to resist.

Amorim will need to raise funds to refresh his squad and has already identified at least five signings to reshape the team.

Others tipped to leave include Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Andre Onana.

The next few days will prove crucial — and Fernandes’ decision may well shape Manchester United’s entire summer strategy.
