If the Dallas Cowboys are going to make it back to the postseason this year, they will need their offensive line to take a significant step forward. The hope is that their young offensive line can gel quickly and become a force. But in order for that to happen, they are going to need multiple young players (Cooper Beebe, Tyler Booker, Tyler Smith) to play the best football of their careers.
But arguably the [most important player on the offensive line this year is Tyler Guyton](https://thelandryhat.com/cowboys-taking-huge-risk-with-rumored-tyler-guyton-plan-after-poor-rookie-year-01jmfat636jp), the second-year tackle from Oklahoma. Guyton was the first-round pick by the Cowboys during the 2024 draft and the hope was that he would step right in and help fill in for Tyron Smith. While he did open the year as a starter, Guyton had a rough rookie season as he dealt with injuries and eventually split time with Chuma Edoga. But the Cowboys haven’t given up hope for Guyton.
According to Brian Schottenheimer, Guyton has been one of the biggest winners of the offseason for the Cowboys. During his media availability on Thursday, Schottenheimer praised the development of Guyton and his work ethic this offseason:
Cowboys LT Tyler Guyton sounds primed for a second-year jump
------------------------------------------------------------
Schottenheimer mentioned that Guyton “[has not missed a day](https://x.com/NickHarrisFWST/status/1928135660155572225)” of offseason workouts and that he’s looked “terrific”. Those statements should ease the minds of Cowboys’ fans who are worried about the left tackle job going into the 2025 season.
Guyton will need to continue to roll the positive offseason momentum into the postseason, but it sure sounds like he’s been putting in the work to have a bounce-back season.
If Gutyon can play at a much higher level in 2025, there is no telling what the ceiling could be of this offensive line. Left tackle was easily the biggest weakness of the Cowboys, so shoring up that spot could go a long way to fixing this offensive line.
Time will tell if Guyton has actually improved or if this is just offseason coach speak, but this is an incredibly encouraging development for the Cowboys. Here's hoping that Guyton can take the sophomore leap and become the player Dallas saw at Oklahoma leading into the 2024 draft.
