Liverpool add another centre-forward to their summer transfer shortlist

Liverpool are looking for another option at centre-forward this summer as a backup to their primary target in the window.

The Premier League champions are already very active in the transfer market, even though the window hasn’t officially opened yet.

According to the latest reports by Fabrizio Romano, the Reds have already signed Dutch right-back Jeremie Frimpong to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold on the right flank. Trent is most likely leaving Anfield to join Spanish giants Real Madrid before the Club World Cup in the USA.

The Merseyside club are also pushing hard to sign Frimpong’s Bayer Leverkusen teammate Florian Wirtz for a record transfer fee of €100 million+, as per multiple reports.

Milos Kerkez is also on Liverpool’s radar, and talks are ongoing with Bournemouth, as the player has reportedly agreed to personal terms with the club.

There could also be some major departures this summer. Liverpool are open to selling Darwin Nunez to Atletico Madrid, according to multiple sources.

The Reds are searching for a striker to replace the Uruguayan, and French forward Hugo Ekitike has been the club’s top target in that position this summer.

However, according to Sam McGuire, Liverpool are also considering Portuguese striker Goncalo Ramos as a backup option in the forward shortlist.

Liverpool’s interest in Goncalo Ramos explained

Liverpool are reportedly willing to pay nearly €200 million for the Bayer Leverkusen duo — Frimpong and Wirtz. They’re also close to signing the 21-year-old Hungarian left-back Kerkez for around €45 million. On top of that, many sources claim Frankfurt might ask close to €100 million for Hugo Ekitike.

That could be a reason for Liverpool to look for a cheaper replacement for Darwin Nunez.

Goncalo Ramos might consider leaving Paris Saint-Germain due to limited game time this season. The Portuguese striker has scored 18 goals in 40 games for the Parisians across all competitions in the 2024/25 season.
