Reports: ‘Negotiations are advancing’ – Man City want to sign Milan star quickly

Manchester City are in active negotiations with AC Milan to try and close the deal for Tijjani Reijnders quickly, reports are claiming.

The rumours of City’s interest in Reijnders have been circulating for weeks now, but with the Club World Cup on the horizon and Kevin De Bruyne’s exit confirmed, they are now believed to be accelerating things.

Reijnders scored 15 goals in the 2024-25 campaign and was, in the eyes of many, Milan’s best player in a very difficult season. He was crowned by Serie A as the best midfielder in the league, which means the Rossoneri can demand a high price.

City pushing hard for Reijnders

The future of the Dutchman Reijnders is therefore increasingly uncertain, but MilanNews are reporting that he risks being taken away from Milan even sooner than one might have imagined.

Manchester City made an initial offer of €60m that has been refused, with Milan asking the Citizens to raise the bid. This has not stopped the English club, who remain in negotiations on Friday.

They want to close the deal immediately and have the former AZ Alkmaar available for the Club World Cup which will be played in the United States, starting in just a couple of weeks.

Fabrizio Romano confirms that negotiations underway between Man City and Milan for Reijnders. City made an initial bid worth around €60m including add-ons, which was rejected, but ‘negotiations are advancing’.

According to Radio Rossonera editor Simone Cristao, the Manchester club are conducting what they believe will be a ‘final assault’ for Reijnders. Talks have ‘accelerated in the last few days’ with negotiations ‘in the final stages now’.
