Fabrizio Romano shares what he's now hearing about when Liverpool will complete Wirtz deal

Liverpool are still expected to complete a deal to sign Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed in his exclusive GIVEMESPORT newsletter.

The Reds are looking to bolster their squad for Arne Slot next season after claiming their 20th English title by finishing top of the Premier League, finishing 10 points ahead of nearest challengers Arsenal.

The club confirmed the exit of Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid on Friday afternoon, with Jeremie Frimpong set to be announced imminently as his replacement, but it shouldn't be long before he is joined by his current Leverkusen teammate at Anfield.

Liverpool were handed a major boost in their pursuit of the Bundesliga 'superstar', when the player told rivals Bayern Munich and Leverkusen that he wanted to prioritise a move to Merseyside this summer.

Club chiefs at Liverpool and Leverkusen have been locked in negotiations for the creative midfielder ever since, and when asked by fans when a deal could be completed by GIVEMESPORT readers, Romano gave an exciting response.

"Soon, it’s well advanced and talks proceeding."

Some Liverpool fans had begun to grow concerned that a deal was stalling after limited news in recent days, with some speculation in Spain that Wirtz's former manager Xabi Alonso could look to hijack the deal to take him to Real Madrid.

But it seems that all things are going as planned currently with negotiations ongoing but progressing, and the expectation is that Wirtz will still be making the move to Anfield this summer.

Liverpool are also looking to strengthen their attacking line with the addition of Frankfurt star Hugo Ekitike this summer in a blockbuster deal, but are likely to need to make sales first to secure that deal. Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota and Cody Gakpo are all candidates for sale should they receive a good offer, while Federico Chiesa and Harvey Elliott are also more likely to leave than stay.
